About the Work

About the Painting

Marion is shown facing the viewer, with long, wavy hair framing the face and extending towards the bottom of the sheet. The eyes look directly out of the drawing. Darker graphite marks define the hair, lips and eyes, while lighter shading describes the nose, cheeks and neck.

Soft areas of tone sit alongside visible pencil lines, leaving parts of the hair and shoulders loosely outlined. The face remains the focus within the vertical format. Drawn on 120 gsm paper, this small original keeps the texture of the graphite and the separate marks visible at close range.
